Scales, Mermaids, and Dragons Oh My! Mythical creatures are something that it seems most people can find some sort of love for on different levels. My daughter is obsessed with all things scales and dragons and my oldest is currently reading the Eragon Series and loves all things fantasy. So dragon play happens a lot in my house. What I love most about this round is the fact that the prints can be used for both children and adults. I love a good fabric round that shows loves for all ages and genders 😉
I’ve gotta say though, my favorite print this round has got to be the roses. They are just absolutely stunning. I was so excited to get the chance to sew them up. Given I was only allotted a fat half of the print I wanted to make sure I used as much as possible and in the best way to really show off the print (A Fat Half is a yard of fabric cut in half across the width instead of the length) When I received this I had a vision. I thought, hey I can design my own patterns and make it work. HA, Boy was I wrong! While it looked absolutely STUNNING on paper I just couldn’t get the fit right. So I set aside my design for a later date and went with a pattern I knew I already loved and that would show off these roses stunningly! So here I am in a lovely Boundless dress from my favorite pattern group Patterns For Pirates. I did add an accent band mod just from fun but Its Love ❤
Next I got these awesome mermaids and scales coordinate. I wanted a fun dress pattern that I could wear around and be comfy in. I found the Vegas Sundress from Lil Ragamuffin Patterns and I was like “Yep, That’s it!” I didn’t quite have enough for the dress length so I made the top version instead. I am seriously in the with the results though. This is so comfy and fun for summertime.
Oh and if you’re wondering, yes I made those awesome Stretch Leather pants as well 😉 Another amazing pattern from Patterns for Pirates.
And finally, my last print was these amazing scales. I was given 1 yard to work with and I knew they needed to become leggings!! I used the Patterns for Pirates Peg Leg pattern with an extra tall band for tummy control. Since I had enough leftover I decided to make a matching top with the Agility Tank pattern from 5 Out Of 4 Patterns. Who doesn’t love matching when working out or just taking the kids to the park? I added a little heat transfer vinyl to the top to make it a little more fun!
All of these prints are currently available for Preorder over at Sew Big Fabrics. You can find them on Facebook or direct link to order HERE! I hope you guys love these prints as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by again ❤
